HARMFUL EFFECTS OF SMARTPHONES || HOW TO BE SAFE?

Credits- www.google.com
Smartphones have became a major component of our life in the 21 century. From taking a bath to using them till late night we are highly addicted to them unknowing about their negative impacts. They are very useful if we use them in a controlled manner. Smartphones were actually made to save our time and keep us healthy by shortening our most of the work but we all know what is actually happening.  Do you end up staying late night  because you were not able to sleep and then started using your smartphone instead of trying to sleep? And then you keep on using your smartphone more and more till you  fell sleepy. This might be the case with most of you.

Smartphones, tablets, laptops, your gaming consoles, all lie in the same category. These things  have humiliated our body cycle. Do you guys know that our body has natural clock, a system which maintains our sleep-wake cycle. Our body gets notified automatically about when it is day and when it is night, when we have to sleep and when we have to wake up. The Early people used to work on this cycle only but after the emergence of technology in this scenario, this cycle has been humiliated.

Now a days people use their mobile phones everywhere, especially when on their beds when they are about to sleep chatting with their friends, surfing Facebook, Instagram, twitter and doing all other stuff. After all this you just lie on the bed but can't make yourself comfortable and are not able to sleep. This is because you you were suing your smartphone before going to sleep. Our body responses differently to all colours of light. Here we are talking about blue colour.

When blue shade enters our eyes, the optical nerve sends signals to brain that it is day time. This is the reason  why we feel energetic and fresh in morning as blue colour is dispersed the most in the morning atmosphere. During the sunset the amber light(red colour)  takes over atmosphere.

This Amber light sends signals to our brain due to which our brain produces a hormone known as melatonin. Melatonin is the hormone which helps in completing the sleep pattern of our body. Now what happens is that these smartphone screens emit blue light from them and when we use them before going to sleep, this blue light sends signals to our brain that it is day time due to which melatonin in not produced and we are not able to sleep and if by chance melatonin is produced as  our body’s natural clock is still active, the next morning our body will feel tired and will get a zombie like feeling.

Many scientists and researchers have told that if this cycle continues for a long time and if you are not getting enough sleep, it can lead to cancer and many other life long diseases. Now the question arises how can we maintain our sleep wake cycle? I would suggest to not use your smartphone atleast  one hour before going to sleep. Instead, try to read books or think about goals and some ideas which could sweat your brain. This may also  repair the damaged parts of your brain.

But if you work online or cannot leave your office work, so better use those night mode apps which suspend the blue colour emitted from these screens. They emit Amber light because of which melatonin will be produced and you will get a good sleep or you can also use amber light shades and side lamps in your bedroom. A good amount of sleep is as important as balanced diet which is required for our body.
